Born in British India, Saeed Jaffrey was an Indian actor, who has worked in Indian, British and American films and television shows. During the 1980s and 1990s, he was considered Britain's highest-profile Asian actor. His career spanned over six decades, in which he acted in around 150 films. He started his career as an English announcer on All India Radio in 1951, and later in 1955, he left to formally study acting and joined a drama school in the UK. He started his acting career with American movies like The Guru (1969), The Horseman (1971), etc. In Bollywood, he started his career with a supporting role in Shatranj Ke Khilari (1977). Some other important movies of his career include Masoom (1983), Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985), Khudgarz (1987), Ram Lakhan (1989), Ghar Ho To Aisa (1991), Aaina (1993), Sauda (1995), Judaai (1997), and many more. In 1958, he married Indian-British actress Madhur Jaffrey, with whom he had 3 daughters including actress Sakina Jaffrey, but their marriage ended in 1966. Later, he married the freelance casting director and agent Jennifer Sorrell in 1980, though their marriage was childless, but it lasted till his death.
