Vijay is an action romantic drama. A wealthy man named Yodhraj (Anupam Kher) lives in a palatial house with his daughter, Suman (Hema Malini) and son, Shashiraj (Raj Babbar). Yodhraj finds out that Suman is in love with a poor man named Ajit (Rajesh Khanna), and is against the match. Despite the disapproval of her father, Suman marries Ajit and moves in his house. Later, Shashiraj too falls for a poor girl named Rita (Moushumi Chatterjee), who is pregnant with his baby, and wants to marry her, but he dies in a plane crash and later, Yodhraj doesn’t accept Rita. Rita gives birth to Arjun (Anil Kapoor), who grows under the care of his foster father, after Rita’s death. The question remains, what will happen when he’ll come face to face with his grandfather, who is somehow responsible for his mother’s death?
