Salim Abdul Rashid Khan, popularly known as Salim Khan, is an Indian actor, producer and screenwriter. He has written screenplays, stories and scripts for several Bollywood movies, and is the one half of the famous screenwriting duo of Salim-Javed, along with Javed Akhtar. They were the first Indian screenwriters to achieve the status of stars in Bollywood. He has acted in movies like Baraat (1960), Professor (1962), Teesri Manzil (1966), Diwana (1967), etc. As screenwriters, Salim-Javed revolutionized Hindi cinema. Their best works include Haathi Mere Saathi (1971), Seeta Aur Geeta (1972), Zanjeer (1973), Deewaar (1975), Sholay (1975), Trishul (1978), Kranti (1981), Mr. India (1987), and many more. In 1964, he married Salma Khan, with whom he has four children, actor sons - Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, and daughter Alvira Khan, film producer. In 1981, he married actress and dancer Helen, with whom he has an adoptive daughter, Arpita Khan.
