K. Viswanath was one of Indian cinema’s prominent director, screenwriter and actor, who primarily was known for his works in Telugu and Hindi film industry. Born in 1930, he started his film career as an audiographer in Telugu films in the late 50’s before making his directorial debut in 1960 with Vanakesari. Some of his popular directorial in Telugu have been Mooga Manasulu (1964), Doctor Chakravarty (1964), Aatma Gowravam (1965), O Seeta Katha (1974) and Jeevana Jyothi (1975) which garnered the state Nandi Awards. His later blockbusters were Sankarabharanam (1979), Sagara Sangamam (1983), Swathi Muthyam, Sruthilayalu, Swarnakamalam and Swathi Kiranam. He was a recipient of several national and international awards including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2017. Some of his memorable Hindi films were Sargam (1979), Kaamchor (1982), Shubh Kaamna (1983), Jaag Utha Insan (1984), Sur Sangam (1985), Sanjog (1985), Eeshwar (1989), and Sangeet (1992).
