Shamsher Raj Kapoor, popularly known by his stage name Shammi Kapoor, was an Indian actor, and an important member of cinematic Kapoor family, he was the son of actor Prithviraj Kapoor. The actor started his career with the 1953 commercially unsuccessful film Jeewan Jyoti, which was followed by other box-office flops. He finally got his breakthrough with the 1957 romantic drama Tumsa Nahin Dekha, which gained him the status of playboy. He soon gained recognition for his unique style of dancing and acting. Some of the most important movies of his career include Dil Deke Dekho (1959), Junglee (1961), Professor (1962), Kashmir Ki Kali (1964), Teesri Manzil (1966), An Evening in Paris (1967), Prince (1969), Andaz (1971) and many more. In 1955, he married actress Geeta Bali, with whom he had two children, including actor Aditya Raj Kapoor, but their marriage ended with her death in 1965. In 1969, he married Neela Devi Gohil.
