Tatineni Rama Rao was a director, producer and writer who primarily worked in Telugu as well as Hindi film industry. Born in Kapileswarapuram in Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh state in 1938, he joined his cousin T. Prakash Rao, a well-known filmmaker as an assistant director before making his directorial debut in 1966 with the Telugu film Navarathri. Thereafter he directed Telugu hits like Manchi Mithrulu, Bhale Rangadu, Dora Babu and Yamagola. He marked his Bollywood directorial debut with Lok Parlok (1979) and followed it up by directing popular movies like Judaai (1980), Ek Hi Bhool (1981), Andhaa Kaanoon (1983), Inquilaab (1984), John Jani Janardhan (1984), Naseeb Apna Apna (1986), Dosti Dushmani (1986), Sansar (1987), Insaf Ki Pukar (1987), Pratikaar (1991), Ravan Raaj (1995), etc.
