Krishnakumar Kunnath popularly known as KK, was an Indian playback singer who sang songs in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese and Gujarati languages films. Born in New Delhi in 1968, he sang many jingles before launching his own debut album titled ‘Pal’ that had popular songs like ‘Pal’ and ‘Yaaron’. He got his big break in Bollywood in 1999 when he sang ‘Tadap Tadap Ke’ in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. This was followed by ‘Dola Re Dola’ from Devdas (2002), ‘Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai’ from Woh Lamhe... (2006), ‘Aankhon Mein Teri’ from Om Shanti Om (2007), ‘Khuda Jaane’ from Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008), ‘Piya Aaye Na’ from Aashiqui 2 (2013), ‘India Wale’ from Happy New Year (2014) and many more. He received many Filmfare Awards nominations but won his only Filmfare Award for ‘Best Playback Singer’ for ‘Khuda Jaane’ from Bachna Ae Haseeno in 2009. He died of a heart attack in Kolkata on 31 May 2022 after performing at a live musical concert.
