Born as Sahabzade Irfan Ali Khan, better known as Irrfan Khan, was a prominent Indian actor who has worked in Indian cinema as well as in British and American films. Winner of many accolades, the actor is cited as one of the finest actors of Indian cinema. His career spanned for over 30 years, he has acted in around 100 films. He made his screen debut in Bollywood with a small role in Salaam Bombay (1988). He rose to prominence with the 2012 biographical drama Paan Singh Tomar, for which he earned National Film Award for Best Actor. Other important movies of his career include Maqbool (2004), Life in a… Metro (2007), The Lunchbox (2013), Haider (2014), Gunday (2014), Piku (2015), Talvar (2015), Hindi Medium (2017), Angrezi Medium (2020), and many more. He was married to Sutapa Sikdar, with whom he had two sons. In April 2020, the actor died because of colon infection, and in 2021, he was posthumously awarded the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.
